We can all agree that 2020 has been a year of tops and turns, ups and downs. There has been a lot of uncertainty around the world at large and has certainly uprooted a lot of people’s plans. Without sounding too unempathetic, there is always a power that we have innately that is the true dictating force of what we can control. The choices we make on the daily will affect how far we go in life and what opportunities are easier to grasp. Perhaps we as a younger generation even undervalue our own potential and the power we have to remain on the path to personal prosperity.
As those of us who have studied the greats before us, everything begins with the foundational changes we make day to day. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day. It is the small, incremental changes we make that will ultimately dictate where we go and how far we go.
No matter how small they may be, setting resolution to a New Year is a great idea to create traction, leverage and purpose in your day to day goals. Even if the destination may seem lofty, setting where you’d like to go is the foundational first step to getting there in eventuality.
Aim High and be specific
Another very powerful adage is “aim for the stars and you’ll end up on the moon.” Though you may not be president of your country or break a billion dollars, aiming high predicated upon the type of life you want to live is key. Most importantly is self-awareness, understanding why you want to be there and what you want to achieve when you are there.
Stick to a timeline
Our brains are high powered computers in their own regards. When we set deadlines for ourselves that are visible and conscious, we will tailor our actions subconsciously to reach our goals according to the time given. Losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks versus 2 months will dictate very different actions. Ultimately, it’s about being honest with yourself and what you can handle at the moment. Don’t be afraid to start slow and build momentum.
Don’t be a perfectionist
Along the path to your goals, you will naturally go through slip ups, which is normal. Don’t let this diswaver you and continue onto the path to excellence on your own time. Let mistakes flow and realize the means is just as important as the ends.
Trust the process
Step by step and stone by stone, we can make it all our own. Believe in your actions, your choices and your sacrifices that this will all pay off in its own way. If you do reach your goals quicker than you imagined, don’t let this dissuade you from restrategizing and reaching the next possible plateau.
